Barbra Plays The Vanguard

Barbra came home, full circle as she said, when she performed at New York's venerable jazz club The Village Vanguard on September 26. Her exclusive performance was attended by more than 100 people, 78 of whom were fans who won a world-wide lottery to be there.


   

PBS to Air One Night Only

August 5, 2011
Select PBS stations around the U.S. will begin airing Barbra's Village Vanguard performance this weekend. "Barbra Streisand - One Night Only at The Village Vanguard" was taped at the famed Greenwich Village nightclub on September 26, 2009. Barbra's return to the Village, her first since the early '60s, celebrated the release of her jazz inspired album, "Love Is The Answer.

Unfortunately, PBS stations around the country operate on an independent basis, so not all of them will be broadcasting the show.

Here are just some of the PBS stations that are going to air "One Night Only." Check for times and rebroadcasts. This list is not complete, so be sure to consult your local PBS listings for a possible broadcast in your area.:

Barbra Returns to her Roots

Barbra made good on her promise to 100 of, unquestionably, THE luckiest fans in the world when she took to the small stage last night in New York. Her much publicized show at The Village Vanguard was a rousing success, attracting an enthusiastic audience that included Lorraine Gordon, widow of Vanguard Founder Max Gordon, and Rick Edelstein, the Vanguard's waiter who actually was responsible for arranging Barbra's original audition there in 1961.

As if last night's event wasn't exclusive enough, Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton were on hand to cheer Barbra on along with some New York glitter provided by Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicole Kidman.
