Democrat, Supported by Barbra

August 25, 2009
Cancer has claimed the life of Massachusetts Senator Edward (Ted) M. Kennedy, who died on Aug. 25 at the age of 77. Ted Kennedy was elected to the U. S. Senate in 1962 and held his seat continuously until his passing this week.

Kennedy's politics and vision for America provided a constant within the democratic party over the forty-seven consecutive years he served in office.

Barbra Streisand knew Ted Kennedy. He was on hand in 1975 to support her efforts, along with those of his sister, the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver, in raising awareness for Special Olympics.  Upon learning of his passing, here's how Barbra remembered the late Senator:

"Ted Kennedy was America's Senator for so long and he inspired so many millions of us with his wisdom and compassion. He is gone but he leaves us with his vision of America to guide us and his clear voice that will reverberate forever. He was always a fighter for justice, working to help those left behind. He will be terribly missed."

Senator Ted Kennedy was the brother of the late John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States.
