Rest in Peace, Dear Allison |
 April 15, 2013 - My heart is heavy after learning that my good friend, Allison J. Waldman died today. For 17 years, Allison fought very hard against a stubborn cancer that eventually took her. I knew Allison for all those 17 years. Throughout it all, she handled her devastating illness with remarkable poise, optimism and grace. I'll always remember those qualities when I think about Allison.
Allison was a monumental presence within the Barbra Streisand fan community. She was, indisputably, the world's foremost expert on the career of Barbra Streisand and derived such immense joy in sharing her enthusiasm, whether through her books, her "Barbra File" newsletters or her weekly "Sunday with Ally" video-casts.
What a joy it was when Allison finally met Barbra Streisand during one of the final months of her life.
I send my heartfelt prayers to Allison's family and most especially, to her husband, Leslie. Les, you were indeed blessed to have had Allison in your life. Please take comfort in knowing that your Allison was beloved by so many people around the world.
I will miss you, Allison. Rest in peace.

Barbra Streisand Remembers Allison Waldman |
I was very saddened to hear of Allison Waldman's passing Monday. She had been struggling bravely for many years to beat cancer.
I knew Allison over the years as a very good writer and a kind and loyal fan of mine who created and wrote "The Barbra Files" magazine and "The Barbra Streisand Scrapbook"... she was always wonderful to me. She was dedicated to the accuracy of the news she conveyed, and she shaped her stories with great style.
I was so happy to finally get to meet Allison at my Brooklyn concert this past Fall and to be able to thank her personally for her encouragement and dedication.
I extend to her family and friends my heartfelt sympathies. She will be certainly missed by all of us.
