"I'm Proud and I Love My Sister"

Roslyn Kind spoke last night in an
on-line audio interview to promote her upcoming series of shows
at the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles. Always a great
interview subject, Roz answered many questions about her own
impressive career before the interview turned to the inevitable
subject of her sister. Roz was gracious and comfortable in
speaking of Barbra, but don't refer to them as half-siblings:
"Let me get this
straight, with everybody calling us "half" and "step." You're
all wrong! We are "whole" sisters and I'm proud and I love my
sister."
Roz spoke about
singing with Barbra as children ("She taught me how to
harmonize on 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat' when I was very little")
On how Barbra's celebrity effected Roz as a child, she said,
"I grew up with great admiration and respect as well as much
love for my sister and her achievements, and I couldn't be
prouder. I just kvell in watching her and hearing her"
Roz told of her favorite childhood memory of Barbra: "My
favorite is when she worked in a Chinese restaurant in our
neighborhood and I used to go with her sometimes while she
worked.... And then after the restaurant would close, we went on
the other side of the restaurant and had a Chinese feast."
And of her
favorite recent adult memory with Barbra, Roz was very clear:
"My most recent is having just come back from London with her
this year while she was on tour and sharing the travel. We had
such a great time just eating and shopping and being sisters.
And watching her perform! We just had a blast in London."
