Timeless Memories |
Sep 2005 |
|

(UPDATE) March 1,
2009 - We're glad to say that, since we first published this article
in '05, Barbra Streisand has continued on with her monumental
concert career, having since performed in North America and Europe.
Our message, however, remains the same.

No Regrets
Sep
28, 2005
-
It was an
event of
monumental
proportion:
Barbra
Streisand's
very last
paid
public
concert
happened
on
September
28, 2000.
It has been
exactly
five years
since
Barbra
gave that
final
performance
of
Timeless,
and it
was an
occasion
that will
be
recorded
in
history.
History is
made all
the time,
and time
is
fleeting.
Streisand's
last
concert is
just one
example of
how a
moment in
history,
if not
captured,
is lost. I
feel
fortunate
that, in
my
lifetime,
I had a
chance not
only to
see
Barbra,
but other
20th
century
icons like
Sinatra
and Lena
Horne. The
latter two
performers
were in
the sunset
of their
careers,
and
something
compelled
me to make
the effort
to see
them
during
very rare
end-of-career
concerts.
With
Sinatra
gone and
Lena Horne
no longer
performing,
I would
not trade
those
experiences
for
anything.
They will
remain
with me
forever.
Though
Barbra is
far from
retired,
it is
unlikely
that we
will get a
chance to
see her
again in a
traditional
concert
performance.
But those
who have
seen
Barbra
have
embraced
one of
life's
special
memories.
Music is
manna for
the soul.
If
there is
one
special
artist who
touches
your
heart, and
you'd like
to
experience
the
emotion
with them
in person,
do it
before
it's too
late.
The
chances to
see them
again may
be few,
and your
regrets
might be
many.
