Appears at National Breast Cancer Coalition Benefit
April 17 - Barbra Streisand appeared last night with former president Bill Clinton at a fundraiser to benefit the National Breast Cancer Coalition. The event was held at the Beverly Hills home of Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone. Clinton was gracious and humble when speaking about Barbra. Barbra forged a solid friendship with Clinton's mother, Virginia Kelley, who suffered from the disease. Barbra's appearance at the fundraiser was an obvious homage to Mrs. Kelley, who made one of her last public appearances at Barbra's Las Vegas concert on January 1, 1994. Mrs. Kelley eventually succumbed to the disease, passing away a week after attending Barbra's show. During her performance, Barbra introduced her own mother, Diana Kind, along with Virginia Kelley to the audience. The moment was poignant, not only for Barbra, but for these very special women in her life.
