"Funny Girl" Returns to The Ziegfeld

News/February 2010

"Funny Girl" last played The Ziegfeld in 2001

Restored "Dolly" Coming to NYC

July 7, 2012
In a related story ... if you'll be in New York on July 22, clear your calendars. The film society of Lincoln Center will be showing a 70mm print of "Hello, Dolly" in all its remastered and restored glory.

We were at the Hollywood premiere of the restored version back in 2002 and can say, without a doubt, that you're in for a treat. Seeing the remastered version of "Dolly" on the big screen is a feast for the eyes (and ears, of course). Harry Stradling's stunning photography will leave you in awe as you experience the cinematic lushness of "Dolly" that just can't be captured by home DVD.

It's as much a star of the picture as Barbra.

The film will be shown July 22 (at 2:30pm) at the Lincoln Center Walter Reade Theatre. The screening of "Hello, Dolly!" is part of a month long film salute to Gene Kelly.

Tickets are $14.50 and can be ordered in advance by visiting the
Walter Reade Theatre web site.

At the Ziegfeld: "Funny Girl" in 2001 and "The Way We Were" in 2003

The Ziegfeld Theatre is the only movie house in New York where you can still enjoy an old fashioned road-show style screening. Film premieres are regularly scheduled at The Ziegfeld, including Barbra's "The Mirror Has Two Faces" back in 1996. Since then, The Ziegfeld has played host to the release of the re-mastered version of "Funny Girl" in 2001 and the official 30th anniversary engagement of "The Way We Were" in 2003 .
