"People" Left in the Dark

March 21, 2011
During a regional production of "Funny Girl" in Oregon on March 13, a storm knocked out the power just as Rose Passione was about to launch into her big Fanny Brice number, "People."

After a short meeting in the darkened wings of the theatre, producers decided to forge ahead.  Actors were given flashlights and an upright piano was wheeled out for musical accompaniment. Said Passione, "we came together and pulled it off." Remarked one theatre-goer, "you certainly lived the saying 'the show must go on.' "
