Barbra Honored at Clive Davis Bash

Jan 2010

Sony Music titan Clive Davis honored Barbra Streisand at his annual pre-Grammy gala at the Beverly Hilton last night. Barbra was serenaded to the tunes of some of her best known signatures by one of today's hottest artists.

(Jan 31, 2010) - Clive Davis's annual pre-Grammy party in Hollywood is always the hottest ticket in town and this year was no exception as Barbra Streisand made her very first appearance at the shindig. And it was a good thing, too, because Davis had a few special honors in store for the woman whose recording career helped make him the industry mogul he is today.

Barbra was one of the evening's guests of honor as she sat among the music industry's top contemporary talent. Davis arranged two special serenades for Barbra. Oscar winner (and dare we remember, "Idol" contestant?) Jennifer Hudson wowed Barbra with riveting renditions of "People" and "The Way We Were."

Barbra enjoyed the evening with husband James Brolin and pals Jane Fonda and Richard Perry. Perry and Davis were the ones who championed Barbra's foray into the rock scene back in the day. The result was a pair of best selling albums: "Stoney End" and "Barbra Joan Streisand."

On the Grammys red carpet this evening, Davis recounted the evening: "We tributed Barbra Streisand, and Jennifer Hudson sang 'People' and 'The Way We Were.'  It was fabulous to hear from Streisand today. She was overcome with emotion."
