Barbra, Live!

Caesars Palace Las Vegas 2011

On Location with "My Mother's Curse"

We were there as Barbra captivated onlookers at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas during a quick, one night film shoot for "My Mother's Curse."

Barbra never gave a concert at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (well, not yet, anyway), but she did capture the attention of the hotel's guests and staff on July 14. Barbra was there to shoot scenes for her upcoming film, "My Mother's Curse."

According to the hotel staff, all anyone knew in advance was that "some movie" was going to be filmed. They weren't told that Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen were going to be there. Only those who caught a short mention in the local paper the day before knew that the film being shot was "My Mother's Curse."

We dropped by to watch Barbra and Seth as they prepared to shoot a scene in the hotel lobby. The Vegas scenes are presumably the only ones that were filmed at actual locations as called for in the script.

It took the production team less than an hour to set up all the detailed rigging and lights, a testament to the efficiency of Paramount's production team. Once everything was properly lit and in place, Barbra, dressed in character, emerged on set at exactly 8 PM. She was friendly toward everyone and had a good time chatting with people before actual work began.

The evening must have been a marathon for Barbra with filming scheduled from 8 PM until 4 AM.  We stayed and watched the action for just a short while. It was a brief moment seeing Barbra, but a most memorable one nonetheless.

With filming at Caesars Palace now complete, "My Mother's Curse" has officially wrapped.
