Meet the Broadway Boys

June 2007

Barbra with The Broadway Boys:
Hugh Panaro, Peter Lockyer, Sean McDermott and Michael Arden

June 19, 2007 - When it was time for Barbra to take her acclaimed concert tour to Europe, a new back-up group was needed to replace Il Divo (who were presumably committed to their own concert tour schedule). Where better to look than where it all began for Barbra herself: on Broadway. Four virtuosos of the New York stage were chosen to accompany Barbra on her whirlwind tour of continental Europe, the UK and Ireland.

Broadway Veterans to Tour with Barbra
Each is a leading man on The Great White Way with his own extraordinarily impressive resume. To Barbra Streisand's fans, however, these talented performers will collectively and forever be known simply as The Broadway Boys. For the current leg of her tour, Barbra invited four of Broadway's most successful contemporary musical performers to sing with her, adding a dose of New York style to the gemütlichkeit of her European venues. She called upon Broadway veterans Sean McDermott, Hugh Panaro, Peter Lockyer and Michael Arden to accompany her on stage in joint and solo performances. Fans of the Broadway stage will certainly recognize several if not each of these performers, especially if you've seen some of the more commercially successful Broadway musicals in recent years.

Barbra's tour co-director, Richard Jay Alexander, recently spoke with Sean, Hugh, Peter and Michael about their upcoming tour with Barbra. See this insightful discussion, streaming now at Broadwayworld.com.
