Lauren Bacall
Receives Long Overdue Oscar
(Nov 15 UPDATE) - Lauren Bacall finally got her Academy Award, an
honorary Oscar presented to the multi-talented actress at
special ceremonies last night in Los Angeles. Angelica Huston was on hand to
make the presentation to Bacall who began her acceptance speech with
the line, "I can't believe it. A man at last."
Bacall was actually the odds-on favorite to win Best Supporting
Actress back in 1996 for her role in Barbra Streisand's "The Mirror
Has Two Faces," but that honor want to Juliette Binoche for "The
English Patient" instead. Tonight's special Oscar will mark the
Academy's formal homage the woman who has amassed one of the most
impressive Hollywood careers of all time.
Lauren Bacall to be Honored
by Academy
(Sep 11) - Reuters reports that legendary screen star
Lauren Bacall
will receive an honorary Oscar during the upcoming
Academy Awards telecast on March 7. Bacall's only Oscar
